Coastal Marine Strategy
Who: The Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship
What: A comprehensive coastal marine strategy
Why: To address the health and stewardship of marine ecosystems and communities
The Province gathered feedback through an Intentions Paper on a Coastal Marine Strategy. We are currently developing British Columbia’s first province-wide coastal marine policy with First Nations. The strategy is expected to release Spring 2024.
This comprehensive strategy will outline actions for healthy, resilient coastal marine ecosystems, community well-being and a sustainable ocean economy.
The Intentions Paper outlined key issues and possible policies that could achieve better outcomes for marine life and people.
