The Columbia Basin Regional Advisory Committee attended a webinar on June 19, 2024, hosted by BC Hydro, where the 2025 Integrated Resource Plan and the latest Call for Power were discussed.
At the beginning of April, BC Hydro issued the 2024 Call for Power, a competitive request for proposals to help ensure B.C. has sufficient clean or renewable energy to meet future electricity needs. The need to acquire approximately 3,000 GWh/year of additional energy was indicated in the 2021 Integrated Resource Plan recently approved by the B.C. Utilities Commission. Now, BC Hydro is beginning consultation and engagement on its next long-term resource plan. The 2025 Integrated Resource Plan outlines the what, when, why, and how BC Hydro plans to meet customers’ evolving electricity needs. During this phase of engagement, BC Hydro is looking to gather First Nations, customer, public and stakeholder values and interests to help guide the development of the plan.
