The 6th International Columbia River Transboundary Conference
September 12, 2019 - September 14, 2019
Join Columbia Basin Trust and the Northwest Power and Conservation Council in Kimberley, BC to connect and collaborate on the future of the Columbia River in its international, transboundary dimensions.
The conference will cover topics including:
- The renegotiation of the Columbia River Treaty
- Reintroduction of salmon to the Columbia River Basin above Grand Coulee Dam in Washington and British Columbia.
- The impacts of and response to invasive species including northern pike and invasive freshwater mussels.
- Power issues including hydropower, energy efficiency (conservation), transmission and renewable resources in the United States and British Columbia.
- Climate change-related impacts on Columbia River water resources and resulting impacts on communities, ecosystems, the economy and hydropower generation.
The conference sessions will incorporate the perspectives of Canadian First Nations and US Native American Tribes as well as feature Columbia Basin arts, culture and history.
The conference will be organized around a series of interactive sessions featuring presentations by scientists, policy-makers and subject-matter experts.
