Blog Post #29 – Release of What We Heard document for Livestock Watering Intentions Paper

In January 2018, government released an intentions paper aimed at regulating and improving livestock watering practices where there is low-density livestock grazing on Crown and private range lands.  The intentions paper was sent to all 203 First Nations and was posted to the Engage BC website for 5 weeks.  Government received 69 responses, of which 35 were from ranchers and ranching associations, 11 were from Indigenous organizations and 23 were from the public, environmental organizations and local governments.

A What We Heard document document summarizing the feedback received is now available.  Final policy direction is expected in late 2019.  Engagement and consultation with organizations that provided feedback on the intentions paper will continue throughout the winter.
